Value of Negative Publicity?

Have you seen the October 29 article in The New York Times Magazine online that essentially said that negative publicity is good? Gary McCormick, APR, Fellow PRSA, had a letter to the editor of The New York Times Magazine published online Friday November 12 (the letter will be published in the print edition on Sunday November 14) refuting some of the points of the Times Magazines’s article  on the potential value of negative publicity.
